Description

This Grade II Listed building was built on the site of an old medieval friary in approximately 1875 and features interior decor by the sculptors Frederick T. Calcott and Henry Poole. It was saved from planned demolition in the 1960’s by a campaign led by Sir John Betjeman, who famously also saved the overall station roof at st. Pancras station from the same fate.
